1988 - 2009: 22 years racing karts and cars
|
Until a year ago Milko has been driving karts for 19 years in a row in the same class, which is in international record!
The first 2 years he drove with self prepared karts, but in 1990 het signed a contract for the Greek kart factory Rod Kart to test and develop chassis for them for 2 years.
From 1992 till 1995, Milko drove with self prepared karts again in the national competitions; 3rd place at the Rijssen Grand Prix in 1993 and winner at the open race at the Berghem track in 1994.
In 1995 Milko switched to (inter)national racing and competed in the strongest kart competition in the world; the Belgium Championships. He finished 17th in the championship and won 2 races and fisnished twice in 2nd place in Holland in that year.
1996 was a dream year; a race contract for the Spanish Arisco team. 6 race wins and Championship winner. 20th place in Turkish Championships.
1997 also Arisco works driver, winner of the Voerendaal Grand Prix, 2nd place at Assen Grand Prix and (indoor) endurance race winner at Silverstone grand prix.
1998 again Arisco works driver. Milko competed in the European Championships this year, but finished at the bottom of the rankings. A 2nd place finish in an Open race in the Netherlands.
In 1999 Milko was semi-works driver for Arisco, just the chassis, and he rented engines from Faluga (Spain). he competed in the European Championships again without major result.
2000 was a year in national competition again, without a factory contract. several race starts, no wins. He also competed in Indoor races and won 2 races and drove 3 fastest lap times.
In 2001 he signed a contract for the Westende racing team to compete in the European Championships again, but without major success. Again he drove several indoor races and he won the Silverstone endurance grand prix with teammate Dennis Kroes, he won 4 other race events, 3 times 2nd place and he broke 2 lap records and finished 2nd at the yearly printing company cup.
2002 was supposed to be a year in Formula 3 with the JB Motorsport team, but 3 weeks before the beginning of the season a major sponsor decided to swithcto Touring cars, so no racing seat this year. This resulted in a total indoor kart season with top results! 4th place Dutch Indoor Championships, 2nd place FAB events indoor challenge, winner printing company cup and 4th place in the Race of Champions.
In 2003 Milko signed another contract as a works driver for the Dutch factory Kombikart. Results: 3rd place Club Championships ISBL, 3rd place Margraten Grand Prix, 16th place Dutch Championships.
In 2004 Milko switched back to the Spanish Arisco team; he signed a 2 year contract which resulted in winning the club championships in 2004 and a 3rd place in 2005.
In 2006 he drove with own prepared material again with help of engine tuner Frank van Riemsdijk (RKR-Tuning) but without success; Milko was involved in a lot of race accidents which caused him a lot of physical troubles.
2007 is the year of the switch to race cars; Milko drove the 5th qualification time in his first race (of 18 cars) and finished 7th at the Spa (Belgium) timed trial event. After that a 5th place, 2 finishes at 4th place and 1st place at the last race of the year!
2008 A very good year! One pole position, several fastest race laps two 3rd and three 2nd places means a 4th position in the rankings out of more than 20 drivers.
2009 Test driver for Moritz Racing with Marcos Mantis. Porsche 944 cup driver for Giallo Racing. Dunlop Endurance cup driver
