3rd place today at the Oldenzaal 2 hour endurance race together with teammate Nanno van der Poel. I’m happy with this result in the last event of 2018! 🙂  Read More →

Last week, the big local newspaper Haarlems Dagblad, wrote quite a nice article about me, over the start of my 30 year during racing career, and the fact that I competed in the rental kart World Championships, last month.Read More →

Last week I finished in 12th position at the Kart World Championships in Madrid, in the 40+ class, out of 25 drivers. The goal was a top 3 result, but after the first few days I found out that the goal was not realistic. Actually, after some very good performances, I’m happy with the result. Thanks to Klazien for all her support!Read More →

After three times a 7th place, and 8th place and a 10th place in the series, my results were good enough to start from the first row in the B final of the Dutch Championship at Oldenzaal, on June 10th. I had a good start and was able to Follow Noelle Smulders. Halfway the race I was faster and able to put pressure on her. The last corner for the straight I was able to overtake her from the outside where she didn’t expect it. I felt quite sure I was winning the race, but 2 corners before the finished she pushed me aside aRead More →

Yesterday evening I broke the lap record at Silverstone Indoor karting in Zwanenburg. Finally a lap under 38 seconds: 37.96! Gave me a good feeling! Coming saturday of to Oldenzaal for the Dutch ChampionshipsRead More →

I’m quite satisfied about the last race, which was a combined event of open Dutch- and Belgian Championships. My timed trials was a 6th place out of 83 competitiors. My finishes in the series were all top 10. I drove the 2nd fastest laptime of all drivers, although I was at least 15 kilo’s heavier than the top drivers. Mty final classificatios were an 8 th position for the Dutch Championship and 11th. For The Belgian. I’m very satisfied with the results and I’m looking forward to the next race at Oldenzaal, at JUne 10th.Read More →

I am almost halfway the preparations for the World Championships. Are things going the way I expected?? In a way.. ‘yes’.. European Championships in Middelburg were a disaster, but I knew that would happen. No experience in any rental kart in the past years. Result: position 102 out of 120. Five terrible heats, 1 acceptable, but also 2 very good ones. In the past months I have been doing practise heats in Huizen, Zwanenburg and Genk (Belgium) At all 3 tracks I was fastest or 2nd fastest, but at least fast, which is encouraging. After The European Championships in Middelburg I became friends with BelgiumRead More →

Last weekend I started my preparation for the World Championship by competing in a race at Oldenzaal. The track is famous in The Netherlands, and one of the eldest tracks here, but I’ve never been there. It was a 2 hour endurance race and I competed with teammate Nanno van der Poel who has been my endurance team mate for many times in the last 16 years. We both quit karting around 8 years ago, we gained weight, there’s not much power left in our arms, we’re missing the sharpness  of a driver that races many times a year, and there’s no track knowledge.
