I’m quite satisfied about the last race, which was a combined event of open Dutch- and Belgian Championships. My timed trials was a 6th place out of 83 competitiors. My finishes in the series were all top 10. I drove the 2nd fastest laptime of all drivers, although I was at least 15 kilo’s heavier than the top drivers. Mty final classificatios were an 8 th position for the Dutch Championship and 11th. For The Belgian. I’m very satisfied with the results and I’m looking forward to the next race at Oldenzaal, at JUne 10th.Read More →

I am almost halfway the preparations for the World Championships. Are things going the way I expected?? In a way.. ‘yes’.. European Championships in Middelburg were a disaster, but I knew that would happen. No experience in any rental kart in the past years. Result: position 102 out of 120. Five terrible heats, 1 acceptable, but also 2 very good ones. In the past months I have been doing practise heats in Huizen, Zwanenburg and Genk (Belgium) At all 3 tracks I was fastest or 2nd fastest, but at least fast, which is encouraging. After The European Championships in Middelburg I became friends with BelgiumRead More →

Last weekend I started my preparation for the World Championship by competing in a race at Oldenzaal. The track is famous in The Netherlands, and one of the eldest tracks here, but I’ve never been there. It was a 2 hour endurance race and I competed with teammate Nanno van der Poel who has been my endurance team mate for many times in the last 16 years. We both quit karting around 8 years ago, we gained weight, there’s not much power left in our arms, we’re missing the sharpness  of a driver that races many times a year, and there’s no track knowledge. So July 2017 is the big event! Although the level of the World Championship rental karts is not as high as the European Championships I competed in, in the past, It’s my first World Championshiop in 28 years autosport and it should be a good one. Top 3 in the Masters ranking is the goal. So I contacted Axel Koenders, the famous Dutch triathlete to help me by making a good training schedule to prepare myself 100%. In December we will start working together to make it happen and I’m excited about it!Read More →

As a test for the World Championships, I´ll compete in the European Championships 2017, in Middelburg, The Netherlands. I could say: ´my home race’, but I’ve never been there yet. Event is held 5 months ahead of the World Championships. Unfortunately no ranking for Masters (40+) so quite a tough event competing against teenagers. Anyway..good for me to see what my level is, at that moment, and time enough to work hard and get better.Read More →
