Saturday june 30th was a very special and succesfull racing day for me. I competed in 2 events at the same day and managed to finish on the podium at both events. I started with the KBO Cup in Oldenzaal. After winning the first race, I qualified in 10th position for the 2nd race, but I nanaged to finish 6th, with meant a 3rd position in the ranking. After this race I drove to Lelystad, to compete in a 2 hour endurance race, with teammate Rick van Tamelen, who’s one of the quickest Dutch rentalkart drivers. The track was completely new to me, but I was the fastest driver in the training session before qualifying, which was encouraging! Rick was very quick in qualifying and grabbed pole position. I started the race and managed to keep the lead for quite a while until it took me too much time to get passed a backmarker and we dropped back to 3rd position. Slowly on we got back in the lead around halfway the race. During the pitstops positions changed a bit, but after a very fast session by Rick, we were back in the lead, 10 minutes before the end. Unfortunately a frustrated driver pushed Rick of the track and we came in 2nd, 1.5 seconds behind the winners. It was an amazing day to be so competitive in 2 events. Next event: Dutch Championships at Eefde track, july 7th.
